## Station F Doubles Down on AI With Second F/ai Accelerator Cohort

Paris-based startup campus Station F, founded by French billionaire Xavier Niel, is preparing to launch the second edition of its F/ai accelerator program this September. The initiative reflects the hub's growing ambition to become the definitive springboard for high-potential artificial intelligence startups across Europe.

## From Early Product to Real Revenue in Weeks

F/ai made its debut in January of this year, and its upcoming second batch is already generating buzz. The program is designed to help a select group of AI-focused startups compress their go-to-market timeline dramatically — moving from early-stage product development to meaningful revenue generation within just a matter of weeks.

Station F director Roxanne Varza has been clear about the benchmark the program is chasing: €1 million (roughly $1.14 million) in revenue within six months. "We'd heard quite a bit of criticism about the slow pace of commercialization of European startups," Varza noted. "This brings them on par with what investors are seeing in the U.S."

## More Than a Co-Working Space

Spanning an impressive 538,000 square feet, Station F is frequently labeled a co-working space — but that description barely scratches the surface. The campus serves as a cornerstone of what France calls "la French Tech," welcoming around 1,000 companies each year and maintaining active equity stakes in its Future 40 annual selection since 2022.

The Future 40 program spotlights the most promising startups from that annual intake. Notably, in 2024, nearly every company selected had integrated AI into the core of its business model — a clear signal of where the European startup ecosystem is heading.

## A Magnet for Global Tech Giants and Political Leaders

Station F's influence extends well beyond its physical walls. The campus has welcomed at least 11 presidential visits since Emmanuel Macron's inaugural tour in 2017, and has hosted prominent figures from the global AI world, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

That network is now being channeled directly into F/ai. The first cohort was backed by an impressive roster of technology heavyweights, including AMD, Anthropic, AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral AI, OpenAI, Hugging Face, Snowflake, Qualcomm, and several venture capital funds.

The second cohort is set to expand that list further. TechCrunch has learned that ElevenLabs, Nebius, Rippling, OpenRouter, HubSpot, and GitHub are among the new additions joining the program's partner ecosystem.

"The goal was to bring together all the major players and make it much easier for AI startups looking to launch in Europe to connect with them," Varza explained.

## Early Wins From the First Cohort

The program's inaugural batch has already delivered noteworthy results. Two standout teams have earned international recognition: Alpic claimed the global grand finale of The Pitch, a competition run by Deel, while Rippletide took top honors at the OpenAI Codex Hackathon.

Beyond the accolades, the first cohort collectively secured $34 million in pre-seed funding — a strong validation of F/ai's model. The caliber of the founding teams likely played a role: 80% of the 20 participating startups were led by repeat entrepreneurs, with one-third holding PhD qualifications.

## A Selective but Expanding Access Model

Admission to F/ai is invitation-only, with startups gaining entry exclusively through recommendations from founders, investors, and program partners. While this approach ensures a high-quality cohort, it has drawn some criticism regarding accessibility and elitism within France's tech circles.

Varza acknowledges the concern, noting that prospective founders can still reach out through F/ai's extensive partner network, with alumni connections potentially becoming another pathway in the future. She also pointed out that Station F operates around 30 additional programs that startups can apply to directly.

### Keeping Talent in Europe

Perhaps the most compelling aspect of F/ai's mission is its drive to retain top AI talent on European soil. The program has previously hosted exclusive conversations with luminaries such as Turing Award winner Yann LeCun — the kind of access that many European founders believe only exists in Silicon Valley.

"Today, if the founders here want to speak to people at this level, they all seem to think they need to go to the U.S. and join a program there," Varza said. "We actually want to show that you can stay here and do it from here."

With a powerhouse partner lineup, a proven early track record, and a clear revenue-focused philosophy, Station F's F/ai program is making a compelling case that Europe's AI startup scene no longer needs to play second fiddle to its American counterpart.
