Suryavanshi Lights Up IPL With Another Breathtaking Knock

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 15-year-old batting phenomenon playing for Rajasthan Royals, has once again left the cricketing world speechless with a stunning display of power-hitting in the Indian Premier League. The teenage prodigy blasted his way to a 15-ball half-century as Rajasthan Royals chased down Royal Challengers Bengaluru's total of 202 with two overs to spare, winning by six wickets.

Match Scorecard

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 201-8 (20 overs) — Patidar 63 (40); Bishnoi 2-32

Rajasthan Royals: 202-4 (18 overs) — Jurel 81* (43), Suryavanshi 78 (26)

A Historic Half-Century That Defied Belief

Suryavanshi's innings was nothing short of extraordinary. The youngster smashed eight boundaries and seven sixes in a ferocious 78-run knock off just 26 deliveries before finally being dismissed. His fifty — reached with a towering six — stands as the joint third-fastest in IPL history, and remarkably, it is the second time he has reached that milestone in this season alone, having previously done so against Chennai Super Kings on March 30.

Even the return of Australian pace ace Josh Hazlewood, making his first appearance of the tournament after recovering from injury, did little to slow Suryavanshi down. Both Hazlewood and seasoned India veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar were dispatched with contemptuous ease as the teenager and number three batsman Dhruv Jurel put together a devastating 108-run partnership off just 37 balls.

The pair dominated the powerplay phase completely, with Rajasthan Royals racing to 97-1 and effectively putting the match beyond doubt before the halfway stage.

Jurel Steadies the Chase After Mid-Innings Wobble

Suryavanshi's dismissal, caught off the bowling of spinner Krunal Pandya, briefly threatened to derail the chase as Royals stumbled to 134-4 from a commanding 129-1. However, Jurel kept his composure brilliantly, anchoring the remainder of the pursuit with an unbeaten 81 from 43 balls — a mature, match-winning innings that sealed a convincing victory for his side.

RCB's Promising Start Undone by Middle-Order Collapse

Earlier in the evening, Rajasthan Royals' England pacer Jofra Archer set the tone immediately, removing RCB opener Phil Salt with the very first delivery of the match — a sharp delivery that drew a top edge through to wicketkeeper Jurel. Virat Kohli offered a brief glimpse of his class with a fluent 32 off 16 balls, but RCB's innings fell apart dramatically, crashing to 125-7 after 14 overs as Archer finished with figures of 2-33 and spinner Ravi Bishnoi claimed 2-32.

Captain Rajat Patidar refused to surrender, however, anchoring a spirited late recovery with a composed 63 from 40 balls. West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd chipped in with a brisk 22 off 11 balls, and Venkatesh Iyer contributed a vital cameo of 29 runs — including 20 plundered from the final over bowled by Sandeep Sharma — to propel RCB beyond the 200-run mark.

Ultimately, though, the momentum generated by that late flourish was obliterated the moment Suryavanshi and Jurel strode to the crease.

A Star in the Making

Yet to make his international debut for India, Suryavanshi is now the leading run-scorer of the 2025 IPL season, having accumulated 200 runs in just four innings at a staggering strike-rate of 266.6. His performances have made him virtually impossible to ignore at any level of the game.

For Rajasthan Royals, the victory means they remain unbeaten and firmly positioned at the summit of the IPL standings, while RCB suffer their first loss of the campaign.
