Savannah Guthrie Returns to 'Today' Studio Amid Family Crisis
Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie made a heartfelt and emotional visit to the NBC studio on Thursday morning, marking her first appearance at the workplace since her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared under alarming circumstances in what authorities believe was an abduction.
A Brief But Meaningful Reunion With Colleagues
According to a spokesperson for the 'Today' show, Guthrie stopped by to personally connect with and express gratitude to her coworkers during an incredibly difficult period. "While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home," the spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Footage obtained by TMZ captured an emotional Guthrie embracing members of the morning show team during her brief visit, offering a glimpse into the deep bonds she shares with her professional family.
Colleagues Rally Around Guthrie
Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager addressed viewers Thursday morning with visible emotion, sharing that Savannah expressed her intention to return to the broadcast. "Even though it feels like the hardest thing to do, it's also her home and where she feels so loved," Bush Hager told the audience on Guthrie's behalf.
Fellow co-host Sheinelle Jones offered words of unwavering support, saying, "Whenever she is ready, we are here." Jones further added, "I'm proud of Savannah, and I'm rooting for Savannah. And I know the strength that it would take to even just come in here and to be amongst all of us. We're in this storm, and we're not out of the storm, but there's a light somewhere even in the midst of the storm."
Bush Hager also relayed a message from Savannah regarding the public outpouring of support: "She said the yellow flowers and the pins, all of your prayers — she feels them. She depends on them."
What We Know About Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance
Nancy Guthrie, 84, is believed to have been abducted from her residence in the early morning hours of February 1. The case has drawn significant national attention and sparked an emotional community response.
A makeshift memorial has grown outside Nancy's home, featuring yellow flowers, handwritten notes, artwork, and even an open letter directed at the suspected kidnapper. On Monday, Savannah, her sister Annie, and brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni visited the tribute site together, placing flowers near the foot of Nancy's driveway in a somber and deeply personal moment.
