Former Reality TV Star Jordan Wright Dies in Thailand
A British reality television personality who rose to fame on popular UK shows has been found dead in a drainage ditch in Thailand, according to findings presented at a coroner's inquest.
Jordan Wright, 33, originally from Stanford-le-Hope in Essex, was best known for his appearances on The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) in 2018 and Ex on the Beach in 2017. His body was discovered on 14 March in Bang Thao 2 Alley, located within the Choeng Thale sub-district of the Thalang district in Phuket province.
Inquest Details
The inquest, held at Chelmsford's Essex Coroner's Court, revealed that Wright's death was confirmed at 12:30 local Thai time. His remains were subsequently repatriated to Essex, where a post-mortem examination was conducted on 13 April at Basildon Hospital.
Pathologists are currently awaiting toxicology results alongside an official report from Thai authorities before further conclusions can be drawn. Senior Essex coroner Lincoln Brookes adjourned the inquest until 14 September, taking a moment to extend his "deepest condolences" to Wright's family, friends, and loved ones.
His Final Days in Phuket
In the weeks leading up to his tragic death, Wright had been actively documenting his time in Thailand on Instagram. His posts featured him scuba diving in crystal-clear waters and riding motorbikes across the scenic island of Phuket, painting a picture of an adventurous and carefree stay.
Tributes Pour In from the Reality TV Community
News of Wright's passing prompted an outpouring of grief from fellow reality television personalities across social media.
Chloe Brockett, a fellow TOWIE cast member, posted a heartfelt "rest in peace Jordan" on Instagram — a sentiment echoed by former Love Island contestant Chloe Crowhurst.
Liam "Gatsby" Blackwell, another familiar face from the Essex-based ITV series, wrote movingly: "Miss you already brother." Meanwhile, Ex on the Beach star Brandon Myers expressed his devastation, saying: "Lost for words bro. Amazing memories with you mate."
In an official statement, a TOWIE spokesperson said: "Everyone at TOWIE sends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jordan Wright at this very sad time."
Government Response
The UK Foreign Office also confirmed its involvement in the matter. A spokeswoman stated: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities."
The full inquest is scheduled to resume on 14 September, where a more complete picture of the circumstances surrounding Wright's death is expected to emerge.
